and administered by Hastings and Rother Voluntary Association
for the Blind, Healey House is the only specialist residential home
for blind and partially sighted people in East Sussex.
It has accommodation for 28 permanent residents (27
single rooms and 1 double room).
23 of the rooms have en suite facilities and all residents
are encouraged to have their own furniture and rooms
decorated to their taste. There is short-term accommodation
available for holidays and respite care.
A qualified manager and deputy manager are assisted
by experienced day and night care staff, kitchen and
laundry staff, maintenance and cleaning staff and a
gardener who takes care of the beautiful surrounding
garden which all residents are encouraged to use.
There is a bright living room, where families are encouraged to visit and have the privacy and comfort of their own home. Other spacious comfortable lounges (one with a piano) and a quiet music room where records and tapes may be played, as well as a large garden which residents are encouraged to use. Our residents are all blind or visually impaired and some have other disabilities.

The
Friends of Healey House, Chairman Fieona Farrier-Twist
and a hard working Committee, run a variety of activities
and coffee mornings to raise funds for additional amenities
for the residents. They also assist with the payment
for holidays, remember birthdays and Christmas and help
to supply other home from home touches.
